Hucke AG announces figures for the first half-year 2005/2006
In the first half-year of 2005/2006 (1 May 2005 to 31 October 2005), the Hucke Group generated sales of EUR 60.5 million (PY: EUR 70.6 million). The export ratio remained relatively stable at 53.2% (PY: 52.2%).
Sales and extraordinary expenses had a more negative impact on the earnings situation than had been planned. In the first half of the financial year, the Company reported EBIT of minus EUR 3.9 million. In the previous year, it generated EBIT of minus EUR 2.4 million.
The most recent, comprehensive restructuring project that the Group is working hard to implement includes the organisational pooling of the women's outerwear divisions, continuing the two labels HUCKE WOMAN and FRANK EDEN WOMAN as well as outsourcing further stages of production. The project entails further human resources measures at the Lübbecke location.
In addition to optimising internal structures, the highest priority is being accorded to stabilising the sales base. This goal is being reinforced by expanding the Company's retail activities.
The positive effects of the restructuring of the women's outerwear divisions on earnings will not fully unfold until the next financial year. Thus, in view of the development of the market and sales, the forecast of at least breaking even by the end of the 2005/2006 financial year can no longer be retained.
The interim report on the first half-year (2005/2006) will be published on 13 December 2005.
